A long-established school uniform shop in Borrowash has been taken over by a new owner, with around £20,000 being invested in refurbishing the Nottingham Road store.
Uniformality Ltd, which supplies uniforms to more than 40 schools across Derbyshire, has been acquired by Worcestershire-based Regency Clothing.
The Uniformality name will remain in place following the takeover, while the shop is being upgraded with new changing rooms, a booking desk and a customer refreshment area.
The new owner says the investment will also allow the business to hold more stock and keep prices competitive for families.
Uniformality opened more than 10 years ago and has since grown to supply uniforms for nurseries, primary schools and secondary schools across the area.
Focus on keeping uniform costs down
Regency Clothing says access to its larger warehouse operation should help the Borrowash shop maintain higher stock levels, particularly during the busy run-up to the start of school terms.
Sue Hicks, operations director at Regency Clothing, said: “Uniformality has been a hugely successful and trusted business since it opened ten years ago.
“It has become the school uniform provider of choice for hundreds of families from across Derbyshire and beyond.”
She said keeping schoolwear affordable would remain a priority following the takeover.
“Our warehousing means we can keep more stock and prices low to support parents, especially during the cost-of-living crisis,” she said.
“We can also serve customers quickly, especially during the busy lead-up to new term times.”
The company says growing demand has also led to additional warehouse staff being recruited as it expands its schoolwear operation.
Regency Clothing is based in Droitwich, Worcestershire, and supplies schoolwear as well as workwear for the catering and hospitality sectors.
The Borrowash store will continue trading under the Uniformality name.
